Mortensen, Richard Alan It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Richard Alan Mortensen in Tampa, FL on August 21, 2016. Rick was born in Oceanside, LI, New York and raised in Orlando Fl. Rick graduated with a master’s degree with honors in engineering from the University of Florida in 1979. It was there he met his wife, Pamela Toothman and they married August 25, 1979. He is survived by wife, Pam; three children, Ashley Gagne (Mike), Rees Mortensen and Caroline Mortensen; three sisters, Barbara Serianni, Stacey Mortensen and Donna Irving; two grandchildren, Claire and Graham Gagne. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Alan and Elaine Mortensen. Rick started Mortensen Engineering in 1988 and Land Assessment Services in 1999. He was well known in the community of engineers, developers and builders as the best in his field. Rick and his family were long time members of Idlewild Baptist Church. He was quietly altruistic, generous and caring. Rick loved his family and he loved his Lord and Savior. He was an outdoorsman with a love for boating, fishing and quail hunting. He was an avid reader of biographies, had a huge heart and a passion for others’ salvation and the study of the Bible. A memorial service will be held on Friday August 26, 2016 at 11:00 am at Idlewild Baptist Church, 18333 Exciting Idelwild Boulevard, Lutz, FL 33549.
