Richard Mark Steinberg of Tampa passed away suddenly on Saturday May 7, 2016. Rick was born in the Bronx on January 3, 1952, to Beatrice and Samuel Steinberg. Educated in the NYC public schools, Rick graduated from the prestigious Music and Art High School. In the 1980s Rick owned Phoenix Foods in Flushing, NY. In the early 1990s he sold the store, moved to upstate NY and worked as a baker. In subsequent years he was a salesman for Bake Rite, a commercial bakery sales corporation before retiring in 2013 when he moved to Tampa with his wife, Karen Rothberg Reda. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Paul Steinberg of Brooklyn; his children, Emily Steinberg, Austin, TX; Henry Steinberg, San Francisco, CA; Terence Steinberg, London, UK; and Dawn Freyder, Tampa; grandchildren Delilah and Alexander Freyder; and eight nieces and nephews and three great-nieces and nephews. Rick was predeceased by his brother Laurence Steinberg of NY, NY. Services will be held at Blount and Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W Bearss Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33618 on Wednesday May 11th. Visitation begins at 2pm, followed by a service at 3pm officiated by the Reverend Sheila Blanco-Pedrosa of Harmony Metaphysical Church. Karen will sit shiva at their home beginning immediately following the service until Saturday. Rick lived a giving life and never knew a stranger.
