Robert M. Backus passed away peacefully at Melech Hospice House, December 26, 2017. Bob was born in Proctor, Vermont, but grew up in Portland, Maine. He owned his own business, Backus Dental Lab. He loved going out on his boat, scuba diving for lobster and scallops. He also served a term as President of the Maine Marine Alpine Club. He moved to Tampa, Florida in 1981, where he continued his career as a Dental Technician. Bob was a dedicated family man. He was predeceased by his three older siblings; Virginia Libby, June Ashe and Alan Backus and son; Martin Backus. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Estelle Backus; daughter, Cindy Wilson; son, Christopher Backus; grandson, Nicholas Wilson; and many nieces and nephews. As per his wishes, there will be no funeral services.
