When we were kids, Rob loved to tease me by chasing me with snowballs or snapping a wet towel at me, but once I became a teenager he became my protector. Always making sure I was safe and was there whenever I needed him. He taught me how to waterski and  he also took me snow skiing. I have so many wonderful memories with him growing up. I met my husband Ray, we moved to Texas and Rob moved there as well for a year. He started working at a Ford Dealership in the Houston area and excelled in his job. He decided that he wanted to move to Tampa near my parents and continued to work at a dealership there until he started his boat business. He was always such a hard worker. His boat business took off and he loved it. He was finally doing something he always wanted to do. He was kind to everyone he met, always ready to help others. When he met and married Jenny, his life became complete. He loved being a father to Lindsay and Shelby. Once his grandchildren Lexy and Zach arrived he was so happy. They were his world. I hate that ALS took my brother away from us. He handled his illness with strength and positivity. He never complained to me or felt sorry for himself. He just appreciated every day he had and always said he was taking it one day at a time. I will miss our conversations, even though he lost the ability to talk, having the conversation by text messages kept us connected. He was my big brother and I loved him so much. I know his faith in God was strong and he is now in a better place. I am not sure how life will be without him, as he would say, take it one day at a time and appreciate each day. I love you Rob.

When I was pregnant with his first niece, my brother Rob called frequently to do a “baby check.” He was so excited when she was born that he flew out to spend a weekend getting to know her, and met us for a weekend at the beach later that summer. 
Rob wanted to be a dad too. He was over the moon when he and Jenny married because her six-year-old daughter was part of the package. When Shelby was born a year later his family was complete and he was a proud and happy pop. 
Rob worked long hours, but he made a point of telling me that he was there when it mattered, taking the girls to school, coaching Lindsay’s basketball team and filming Shelby’s dance recitals. In between everything else he helped our parents and his mom-in-law - stringing lights for Christmas and other chores as they grew older. 
Our family had left Michigan during the 1980s, scattering to Texas, Florida and North Carolina. Because we couldn’t see each other often we settled for phone calls - hence the baby checks! Rob would call from the road. I often called from a hospital or rehab clinic because our middle child was starting a long recovery from a severe traumatic brain injury. We shared worries, complaints and fears, and gave encouragement and advice. Occasionally we fought - politics has become increasingly cutthroat - but we learned to avoid sore subjects. 
In 2021 he told me he might have ALS, which had killed our grandfather in 1971. It was a sad day when, several months after his diagnosis, I could no longer understand what he was saying. 
So we relied on texts, which worked even when he could no longer respond. That’s because I could still tell him how very much we loved him.

My Uncle Rob was the best hugger! He was one of my biggest encouragers after I got hurt in kindergarten. When I graduated from high school he was so proud that he, Aunt Jenny and Shelby came to North Carolina to celebrate.
I haven’t seen him since he got sick, but he always answered my emails right away, at least until ALS took away his last way to reach out. I miss him a lot, but his love will always be in my heart.

I am heartbroken, and I still can't believe he is truly gone.  Rob and I shared 36 years together.  When you spend that long with someone, you stop being two people and start being one.  Losing him feels like losing half of myself.  But it also means I carry half of him with me, and always will.

He was never a man who needed the spotlight.  Rob showed his love in quieter ways - my car always filled with gas, the little jobs done before I had even noticed they needed doing, the way he would hold my hand without thinking.  He believed love was something you did, not just something you said.  And he did it, every single day, for all the years we had.

Rob was the steadiest person I have ever known.  When things fell apart, he stayed calm.  When I panicked, he was the voice that always said we would figure it out and somehow, with him, we always did.

As a father, he was patient.  He taught our children to be kind, to work hard and to laugh at themselves.  He showed up to every game, every recital, everything they were involved in, without fail. He was the Dad who sat up all night when one of them was sick and never once complained.  Our kids adored him, and he adored them right back.  But most of all he showed them what a good man looks like.

The love and bond that Rob and I shared was unique and special.  He was there for me through the good times and the bad and could always put a smile on my face.  I will be forever grateful for how much joy and love he brought to my life and thankful for the time we had.  It was never going to be enough, but it was everything.

My heart goes out to everyone grieving. My father-in-law was a man of quiet wisdom who loved boating and the dedication it took to maintain them. The care, patience, and love he poured into his passions were the same qualities he gave to his family. He will be incredibly missed.

I wish I could describe how incredible my dad was. He was the kindest, most caring, compassionate person you will ever meet. He was my go-to and confidant for so many things. We would have such deep and meaningful conversations about anything and everything, especially when we both got stuck on the bridge driving home from work from St. Pete. He taught me how to do so many things, like how to ride my bike and drive a car. He was always the first person I would call whenever I got lost driving somewhere, and he patiently guided me home. I so fondly remember all of our family vacations and time together, whether it was out boating, at Disney, on a cruise, etc.

I knew this day would come when my dad was diagnosed with ALS, but still could never be ready for the depth of this loss. Even though he made it so much longer than anyone would have expected, I hate so much what it did to him and how he was completely robbed from living his life to the fullest with his family. 

I will always love my dad with every fiber of my being. I miss him so much, but I know at least he's not suffering anymore. I know I'll be able to see him again one day, and I can't wait for that.

We share in your loss. We’ll miss him dearly. What a beautiful soul always caring for others. I  am so thankful and blessed for all that he’s unselfishly done for our family.  I will be forever in his debt for taking it upon himself to get our son to the right hospital which in turn saved his life. So, Rob thank you again. A true Angel among us. We’ll remember you always and will keep your family in our hearts and prayers. God bless you. ❤️🙏

All our love and deepest sympathy goes out to Jenny, Shelby, Lindsey, Lexy, Zach, Debbie and Shawn.  I met Rob in 7th grade and he has been like a brother I never had ever since.   We had nothing but great adventures and fun times growing up in Michigan.     We boated, waterskied, snow skied and road motorcycles or simply had a great time every time we got together.    I never met a harder worker or a more genuinely caring guy.   He has always been that way, just as the family has so aptly stated.   When I met Rob, he was the only kid I knew that had any money.   I found out he used to get up at about 5 in the morning and do 2 paper routes  before school …and he always loved boats.   He bought his own boat when he was about 16 and would take me and the guys out to Lake Saint Clair where he taught us all how to waterski ..and he paid for everything.   Rob would do anything for his family and friends without a 2nd thought…always there 24/7….no exceptions.   I have nothing but the best memories of Rob.   Never had anything but great times with him.    I would like to send a special heartfelt message to Debbie and Shawn and family.   Rob has been taken way too soon.   I am so sorry to hear about his passing and send you my love and wish you comfort.   He is truly one of a kind and lived life to its fullest.    Also, I just want to say to Jenny, Lindsay, Shelby, Lexy and Zach, that all Rob ever talked about was you.   On and on he would tell me about how proud, happy and amazed he was about all of you.   You were and are his life, and you made him the happiest guy in the world.
