
FERRERA, Robert 89, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on August 5, 2015. Graveside services will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 East Lake Avenue Tampa, Florida 33610, on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 12Noon with visitation one hour prior to service.
Robert was born to Jose and Caridad Ferrera a son of Cuban immigrants. Drafted into the army he served in the infantry fighting with General George Patton’s tank division at the Battle of the Bulge and then into Germany to take Berlin. Working at the American Can Company 30+years, retiring in 1980. Robert spent many of his days playing his favorite game of dominos at Centro Asturiano in Ybor City, he was an avid fan of all sports consistently knew highlights of every game. Robert is survived by his children, Robert A. Ferrera, and wife Cheri, Martha K. Ferrera, grandchildren, Morgan Favata, Emily Ferrera, T. Kyle and Blake A. Henry, and his numerous and loving nieces, nephews, and great-granddaughter Mia Favata. Robert was preceded in death by both parents, his 6 brothers and sisters, and his wife of 58 years, Rita Ferrera. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Florida Hospital Foundation.
