

Robert William Pitton II peacefully passed away in his Dade City, Florida home on September 14, 2024, he was 68 years old. He was born in Cherry Point, NC on April 7, 1956, to parents Robert William and Julia Ann Pitton. His father was in the military which took them to France then in 1965 the family relocated to Tampa, Florida when he was 9 years old.
Robert, known to his friends as Bob, graduated from Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida in 1974 and in 1978 received his Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Miami. Bob was active in baseball and football throughout his academic years and became a huge sports fan for the entirety of his life, with a special passion for the Miami Hurricanes. Bob had a magnanimous personality with an all-around tremendous sense of humor and was a devoted and loving husband, father, and friend.
Married to Mary Thompson from Chattanooga, Tennessee at St. Raphael’s Church, Saint Petersburg, Florida in June of 1991, they had three children. Bob pursued a career in accounting and soon established his firm, Pitton Accounting Services by the mid 90’s. Bob is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Mary, and children Kathryn Ann currently in Lexington, Kentucky, and sons Robert William III and Eric Chandler of Tampa, Florida. He is also survived by his brother, John Gordon Pitton, his wife Kathy, and their two children Chad and Nicole.
Bob’s family would like to extend their gracious thanks to the many doctors, nurses, and medical staff of Moffitt Cancer Center, Baycare Health Group, and Gulfside Hospice. Also, sincere gratitude to the Dade City Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Rev. Robert Romaine. Donations to the Moffitt Cancer Center are appreciated. A celebration of Life is to be scheduled at a later date.
