Robert Streppone, of Odessa, FL. known to friends as Bob and to family as “My Bobby”, 89, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 23rd at St. Joseph’s Hospital North surrounded by his wife and daughters. Bob was born in Brooklyn, New York to Amodio and Nancy Streppone. After graduating Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn as class president, he went on to serve in the US Navy as an electrician on the USS Casa Grande. Upon his return home he moved to Mineola with his parents and loving sisters Joan and Jean. He graduated from Adelphi College with a degree in business management and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
Bob spent the majority of his professional life working for Con Edison. He started in a management training program and worked his way up to become the General Manager of the Transportation Department for all of New York City…he kept New York running! Con Edison shaped his life in ways he did not expect when he fell in love with a coworker who later became the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Eileen Foley.
He was a dedicated, loving husband and father who always put his family first. He built his dream house on Kathy Drive in Muttontown on Long Island. One of his greatest memories was hosting elaborate summer pool parties that were loved by all. He and his wife Eileen spent many happy years there before moving to Odessa, Florida in 1990 to join his beloved Conigliaro cousins, Nancy, Sal, Pat and Mike. The party of six became a group like no other. He reveled in their weekly card games, movie outings, dinners and casino junk-its.
Bob was known for his kindness, generosity and fun-loving spirit. He was always up for a good prank and delighted in planning surprises for his family. He made an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him through his charisma, charm, and sense of humor.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Eileen and four daughters; Susan Streppone (Roman), Stephanie Coate (Anthony), Sandi Streppone, and Samantha Sanderson (Greg). He was an adoring “Poppy” to his grandson, Alistair. He cherished his sisters, Joan Ricucci (Ben) and Jean Collins (Thomas), his many nieces and nephews, and all of his loving cousins.
