Valiente, Roberta “Daisy,” 84, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on August 30, 2021. Every great love starts with a great story and it began in Santiago de las Vegas, Cuba, where Daisy was born and raised. At the age of sixteen, she met Carlos, the love of her life, at a dance hall on Easter Sunday. They courted for a month before realizing they couldn’t imagine life without each other and were married three years later. After the birth of their two sons, they made the difficult decision to leave their homeland and travel to Spain where they lived for a year before making their permanent residence in Tampa, Florida in February 1968. Daisy graduated from beauty school and was employed at Grand Fashion Beauty Salon for four years before operating her own salon, Mr. Phil’s Coiffure, for twenty-two years. Post-retirement, she decided to continue working in her at-home salon where she took care of select clients until her passing. She dedicated her life to God and family. She was an avid traveler and was blessed to share many adventures with her husband around the world. Daisy was a tremendous woman who was kind, loving, selfless, trustworthy, and full of grace.
Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, Eugenio Perez and Modesta Martin-Carrera; sister, Gladys Perez Martin-Carrera. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Carlos Valiente Sr.; children, Carlos Valiente Jr. (Barbara) and Jorge Valiente (Beverly); grandchildren, Vanessa Valiente and Christiaani Valiente (Sarah); great-grandchild, Elijah Valiente; sister, Luana Perez Martin-Carrera.
