Three years on, and the loss of Rob still feels so profound and, honestly, so unfair. I think often of his lovely parents who did everything for their family and are now living with these deep sorrows.

I remember Rob in his mid-20s talking to me about his plans for taking care of his parents when they were older. Even as a young person, he was aware of the needs of the people he loved. (And he always loved a good plan!!)

I hope his spirit and wisdom lives on and his family members can hear his voice and his advice in their heads as they move forward in life.

Dr Lewis was my son’s doctor from age 4 - 15. He was the only doctor that helped my son with his developmental delays and disabilities. He listened and took his time with my son. He opened many doors and provided many resources for my son. He was an excellent doctor. He was very passionate and caring . He is one of the reasons my middle child is studying medicine. Dr.Lewis will always have a special place in our hearts.

Dr. Lewis was my son”n doctor for over 18 years.  He was there always for my family when my son needed him and wish he was still alive because he’s kind and caring demeanor for his patients is what sealed his daily dose of care.  RIP Dr Lewis and will keep you in our prayers.

I was looking to hook up with Robert after having lost contact for some time….life. He was a great friend to me and I thought of him often. I was shocked and dismayed that to find this. Robert Rest In Peace my brother I am heartbroken that you died so young. 

Dr. Lewis was always very kind to me and my family. He helped us through a very delicate situation with grace and kindness. He was the kind of doctor that would call you...you didn't need to call him. He was conscientious and loving, patient. He will be greatly missed!

I learned of Dr. Lewis' death when I called to get a referral for a dermatologist for my son.  We last saw Dr. Lewis in August, 2021, for my son and daughter's back to school physical.  My son really got a kick out of showing Dr. Lewis how strong he was during his physical exam.  Dr. Lewis would say boy, you sure are strong.  He has been my children's doctor for the past 8 years or so.  My son and daughter always had an enjoyable time with him at their appointments.  They really love Dr. Lewis.  There was always much laughter at their visits.  I am sure those who passed by probably wondered at the happiness behind the door.   Dr. Lewis always had a smile.  He was such a caring and thoughtful person.  He will be missed.  I pray that God  strengthen and comfort his family.  May God continually bless and keep you all.  Earth has no hurt that heaven  cannot heal.

Today we took our son Sean, who is 16 now, to see the only pediatrician he has had since he was four years old, Dr. Robert Lewis.  We were devastated when we were told of Dr. Lewis passing.  Words cannot describe the love we have for Dr. Lewis as he cared for our son all of these years.  We feel fortunate that in the military community, our children will have several pediatricians, we really only had Dr. Lewis.  He was a compassionate and caring man and a skilled doctor.  His bed-side manner was always timely and reassuring.  When Sean was only 6, he had a severe stomachache, and we were worried sick.  Dr. Lewis ran all the tests, and came in the examination room, smiled and told Sean, "Hey buddy, you gotta cut back on the mini-muffins".  It was always good to see Dr. Lewis in our neighborhood, and we feel so blessed to have had him as Sean's doctor and in our lives for so many years.  We will miss and remember him always.

Thinking of Rob and his family on his birthday. i met Rob when I was an international student at KU and I vividly remember this time of year, when it was absolutely freezing outside (and Rob was the only person with a car!) I remember visiting the art museum in KC with him around this time - some beautiful memories. 

I am just finding out, during our scheduled appointment, that my sons beloved Dr. Lewis has passed  away...we just saw him the month before! My tears just won't stop flowing...  His dedication to caring for others is unmatched! He literally saved my son's life when the emergency room doctors had no idea what was going on! Dr. Lewis was my sons doctor since he was 8 years old... he is now 17 years old. He was a part of our family and will be sorely missed! The Greatest Pediatric Doctor Ever!!! Rest In Glory!

This morning I am crying so many tears because I just found out about Dr. Lewis passing. He has been my kids pediatrician for the past 13 years. He was such a awesome person with a beautiful soul. This news is so heartbreaking  for my family. He will  truly be missed.😭

I am crying writing this because I just found out this morning. Dr. Lewis was both of my kid’s pediatrician since they were born. We didn’t get to say goodbye and we didn’t get to tell him again how much we appreciate his service to us. We will miss you. May you Rest In Peace. My condolences to the family. 

Dr. Lewis was my daughters pediatrician all of her life.   We loved him and he was her favorite.   We will miss his warm smile and genuine concern for his patients.

I cried finding out we lost such a patient, caring and gentle  man. My kids have seen Dr. Lewis for the last 8 years I’m so sad he’s gone but I hope he’s resting easy in heaven. My condolences goes out to his family and my prayers go up 😢🕊

I called the clinic today to make an appointment for my son and was devastated to learn of Dr. Lewis‘s passing. He has been my children’s pediatrician for the past seven years. He had a great rapport with both of them and had virtually seen them grow up! The world is surely a dimmer place without him. He had just remarked to my husband last month how it was rare that he was able to see military kids for this long as he did with us. Dr. Lewis was on a first name basis with me, and we always looked forward to seeing this kind, patient man. He always took the time to answer our endless questions and offer resources. We will miss him. Our deepest sympathies to his family.

I am so sad to hear that Dr. Lewis passed away! He was my first pediatrician from the time of birth for my daughters until we moved away when they were 3 and 6. He was incredible at his job and really loved his patients. I have always thought he was the best doctor I have ever met! He was such a kind hearted and warm person. I loved him and my girls loved him. He helped me through so much anxiety as a new mother and helped me feel so reassured in my parenting. I will always remember him fondly, as I know so many others will. I am so very sorry to his family for your loss. 

To say our world has lost a kind and beautiful soul is such an understatement!  

My heart hurts for his family, friends, co-workers and his many patients.  Both of my girls were heartbroken to learn that they would no longer see his smiling face at their appointments anymore.  My youngest (17) has social anxiety and meeting new people is challenging for her.  She really loved her Dr Lewis and was very attached to him.  Even with her anxiety, she trusted him right from the very beginning from when she was a tiny little girl to now. 

Dr Lewis helped us through SO many medical challenges with both of my girls (now 17 and 19). But what stands out to me is that he always remembered their stories and really connected with them in ways other medical professionals just don’t do any more. He made many personal follow up calls to check on the girls when they were dealing with their medical issues.  He demonstrated over and over just how much he cared. He was our trusted go to doctor when we were getting conflicting treatment options from outside doctors in the community. He also helped us navigate through so many treatment obstacles.  He was an amazing, caring and wonderful human being who will be sincerely missed!

My girls and I just wanted to share how much we cared for Dr Lewis and to let his family know that we share a piece of their sorrow and send our deepest to condolences to his loved ones.

Roberto showed his love for his family, job, and showed being a nerd is fun. I wish we didn’t lose touch with each other these past years. I’m gonna miss our time meeting up for movies and dinner.  I will miss him deeply. 

Dr Lewis, I had the honor to work with you this past 2 years. You were my greatest mentor, a best friend and the best pediatrician a patient could ever ask for. Your passing is so hard to process. You were an amazing person and you left an imprint in our hearts that will live on forever. My family extends our condolences to your whole family, friends and everyone who loves you. Rest in paradise. 

Rob was like a brother to me and I hate that life, work and everything else got in the way and we didn’t communicate as much as we used to.  I will miss him and going out to eat and to the movies!  Keep in touch with your friends and family while you can.  I miss you Rob!

We are still in disbelief that Dr. Lewis has passed. My condolences are with the Lewis family. We met Dr. Lewis when our daughter was about 2 months old. We quickly grew fond of him and felt we had hit the pediatrician jackpot! He’s been the most amazing pediatrician to our daughter for almost 3 years. He will be missed terribly and I hope he knew how loved he was. I’ll forever cherish that our daughter saw him on Sept 2nd and had the opportunity to tell Dr. Lewis her joke. She was so proud of the joke she had come up with on her own and Dr. Lewis was a great sport and followed along with it and it made her so happy! She talked about Dr. Lewis the rest of the week after our last visit! May you Rest In Peace Dr. Lewis. 

Still active duty I was blessed to have my first child. First time mom and nervous about all things related to being a mom, Dr. Lewis put each appointment at ease. Personable and knowledgeable is a understatement. Just an overall great human being. Rest in perfect peace

We still cannot believe that he is gone. From the moment we met Dr. Lewis we were smitten. He made the kids and I feel so at ease-they even enjoyed going to appointments! So patient and kind. He answered all of our questions no matter how much time it took. I was never afraid to ask him anything. When we brought our daughter home two years ago he (and Caroline too) shared in our joy as the adoption was finalized and every day since. Thank you to your family for sharing you with all of us. You will be forever missed. 

The kindest most gentle soul. Dr Lewis cared for our daughter Bailey for the past 6 years….her entire life. Everything he did, was done with care and love. I had the privilege of working with Dr Lewis while I was stationed at MacDill. He was a terrific person who always had a smile and a kind word. He took amazing care of all his patients and was loved by all. It was the reason I had my children transferred to his care. My youngest was still under his care after I retired and we were all saddened to hear of his passing. May God comfort his family and friends and bring them peace. We will miss him.

Doctor Lewis was our pediatrician for the last 10 years. He was so much more than a doctor for our family. He always took extra time and remembered the children's stories from a previous visit. Whether he was taking temperatures or offering a diagnosis he never failed to casually speak to us about his family and their travels or talk to me about the state of human affairs. We always knew he would be behind schedule because he made each and every patient feel special and took the required time for each and every one ofus. My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. He will surely be missed. As previously stated he was so much more than just a pediatrician. He was a kind human. He was a loving father. He had a great personality and sense of humor. In every aspect of who he was he will be missed like no other. May he rest in peace and comfort to those he left behind.

Dr. Lewis will be dearly missed by our entire family.  He has been Caleb's doctor for the past eight years and Caleb always enjoyed seeing Dr. Lewis, as he was funny and also caring.  He would ask Caleb about new movies coming out and which Marvel characters were his favorites.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lewis family, and we will forever hold his loving heart in our memories.

Dr Lewis was the most fantastic pediatrician any parent could as for. He has treated both of my children for many many years. He took a special interest in all his patients.  But he made you feel like you were the most important patient he had. He went above and beyond. My children have both had several medical challenges and difficulties and Dr Lewis rose to the occasion everytime. He truely cared for his patients. He will be very missed in our house. We send sincere condolences to Dr Lewis' family. He touched our lives and a lot of others. He was a good man. 

Dr. Lewis trained me as an NP student. He was an intelligent, kind man. In my training, he challenged my thinking with questions and encouraged me to seek out evidence based solutions in practice. He trusted my decision making and was an amazing mentor and even cared for my own children. My heart aches for everyone who knew and loved him. RIP Dr. Lewis. Thank you for your legacy.

Dr. Lewis has been my girls' pediatrician since we moved here 6 years ago and they loved him.  He was always so kind and supportive of my girls and their many adventures. He was such a blessing and we will miss him dearly!! 

I am heartbroken, beyond sadden for the loss of such a phenomenal Doctor who went above and beyond when my child needed someone to help with ADHD struggles.  Grateful I had an opportunity to tell him how thankful we were that he was patient, wonderful and understanding while my child was under his care. They’ll never be another Dr. Lewis. I hope his family will know just how many lives he impacted with his care and that we too feel the loss & sympathize for them in their time of grieving. 

Our family is so sorry for the Lewis’ family loss. Dr. Lewis was such a wonderful doctor for my children. We will always be grateful for how he listened and cared for my family like we mattered.  

Dr. Lewis was by far the best doctor my kids have been to throughout their 4 duty stations. He was always wonderfully down to earth, professional and caring. Our sincerest condolences to his entire family. He was a truly wonderful human. 

My family and I first met Dr. Lewis back in 2012 when we first arrived to MacDill, AFB. He became our PCM for several years. He was an angel sent from above. Our middle son was diagnosed with Autism and Dr. Lewis was the one that walked us through the process to find the help our son needed. He was also the one that helped me with being able to stay in MacDill as a compassionate reassignment so as not to interrupt the progress our son was making (and continues to make). Dr. Lewis lived to help and serve those in need. Dr. Lewis, my family and I will forever be grateful to you. You will be missed. Our deepest condolences to Dr. Lewis's family. - The Anguiano Family 

In 2017, my family moved to Tampa for my position at MacDill AFB. My youngest son was not even 1 years old yet and was born with Down Syndrome. To say we were nervous was an understatement. I prayed for a physician who was knowledgeable about Down’s, someone who was compassionate, and someone who would have an amazing bedside manner. My prayers were answered a million times Dr Lewis was Amazing! The first time we met him I just knew God had answered my prayers, that Dr. Lewis was that and so much more. He knew exactly what our little Caleb needed and he has been our Pediatrician for the last 4 years. He has been awesome for our older son’s too but when it came to each yearly visit he was able to give us updates and different things we needed to check for and just be mindful for about Caleb which has been a blessing.  He will truly be missed. 

We met Dr Lewis at the Brandon clinic- he was filling in for our assigned pediatrician and after that first appointment, we requested the change to have him be our son's assigned doctor.

Dr Lewis was definitely cut from a different cloth than most doctors today. He cared and you could easily see that he cared. Whenever we had an appointment for a problem, he would call a few days later to see how we were faring. He is going to be missed by all his patients.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr . Lewis. I met him at the Brandon location after the birth of my first grandson and he cared for my second grandson until my family PCs out of state and just returned . They were excited that now all 3 children would be under his tender, excellent pediatric care. I’m dismayed that they were told a new doctor for today’s appointment assigned as he left unexpectedly. Never would I have thought he passed. May he rest in eternal peace with the risen Lord

I met Rob as an international student at KU during the 90's. I have so many vivid memories of the time I spent with him - driving across Kansas in the snow, dancing at Club Surrender (he was a much better dancer than me!), and hanging out in his engineering lab when he was finishing off his Masters. 

When he graduated I gave him a t-shirt with a glow-in-the-dark periodic table on it and being the cool nerd that he was, he loved it! (I think I still have a photo of him holding it up!)

I remember having lots of conversations with him about his future medical career and plans. One day he told me he would go into admin, because he really didn't want to work directly with people.  I said, 'hmmmm....let's see' and was not at all surprised at what specialty he chose down the track. (He was a big softy, but pretended not to be!)

Rob  was  one of the most organised and planned people I've ever met - I actually remember trying to wrestle his beloved organiser out of his hands one day as we were walking along to a class, to see if he could survive without it for a day!

I have so many memories of Rob I could keep writing and writing - but suffice to say, he was one of the smartest, compassionate, thoughtful people I've met. He was such a good, good person. I am heartbroken for his parents, sister, Angelique and Maddie - your loss is just unfathomable. Rob left a big impact on everyone and will be missed so much.

My condolences to the Lewis family. Dr Lewis was the best peds doc ever! My daughter is devastated. He was a parent's best first line defense. He educated us as much if not more than the kids. He knew  and cared about all his patients. He will be sorely missed by all. I don't know if she'll ever find a doc who can replace that bond.

My deepest condolences to the Lewis family. I was blessed to both work with and have Dr. Lewis as my kids pediatrician. I used to tell him all of the time that I wish I could carry him in my pocket as we move from base to base. Just a great man! I am happy to have gone out to see Dr. Lewis and his team one last time before my family and I left Florida. That last conversation will stay with me forever. Rest in paradise my friend.

Dr. Lewis was my son John doctor since he was five,  now nineteen still on his care, his oldest patient for 14 years . Dr. Lewis was caring, good listener, devoted to his patients, professional and kind.
Now my son young man look up to Dr. Lewis not only for health issues, he went to him for advice. My son is devastated,  yesterday he told me that Dr. Lewis knew him better than I.  That's the kind of Doctor he was.  God bless him and my deepest condolences to his family .
