Ruth was a determined, purposeful, creative, and colorful person. She had the ability to turn nothing into something.
As a young teen growing up in Erfurt, Germany, she designed and created her confirmation dress using material from a discarded parachute. Her crocheting skills were evident in the complimenting outfits she created for her young children. She mastered upholstery and displayed her skills in her teenage daughter’s car and house. She sketched blueprints for a barn on a napkin and then built it from the ground up with her son. She later designed and built a wooden play set for her granddaughter. Her yard is living proof that she had the ability to grow lush plants from a mere sprig.
She worked as a Dental Assistant/Hygienist for 15 years in Germany before marrying and moving to the United States where she proudly became a naturalized citizen. She was employed as a homemaker for 15 years, a Groom/Asst. Trainer at a private farm for Tampa Downs for 5 years and an Inspection Technician for United Technologies Automotive Group for 12 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Sanders; parents, Wilhelm and Gisela Schloffel; and brother, Rolf Schloffel.
She is survived by her children, Kathryn Worthing (John) and Brian Sanders (Sandra); grandchildren, Jordan Worthing (JoAdriona), Jeremy Worthing, and Delaney Sanders; and great grandchildren, Myles and Ember Worthing.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on July 3, 2021 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
