

John was born in Torrington, CT to Seraphin John and Lydia Fainelli DeLutrie on September 12, 1945. He graduated from Gilbert High School, Winsted, CT. He served honorably in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from Central Connecticut State University. He worked as an engineer for Aetna for 25 years. He eventually started his own consulting company, Excelsior Risk Management Services. He served as the President of his Homeowners Association for over 20 years. John enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, playing card games, and sharing his vast knowledge with family and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents Seraphin John and Lydia Fainelli DeLutrie.
John is survived by his wife of 30 years, Charlene; children Joseph DeLutrie, Sheila DeLutrie, Maureen Andrews and her husband Tedd; brothers Joseph DeLutrie and Peter DeLutrie; sisters Carol Heuschkel and Ann Pergola; grandchildren Julia, Ryan, Matthew, Joshua, Madeline; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving dog Dori.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to any veteran organization.
A visitation will be held at Blount & Curry FH-Carrollwood, located at 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL, 33618, on February 23, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same venue from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Military honors will take place at 10am on February 24, 2026, at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL, 33513.
