
Santoni, Santos Q. “Sandy”, born 8-1-19 & resided in John Knox Village, Tampa, FL. Sadly, on 7-12-14, Sandy quietly went with the angels above. Sandy proudly served in the U.S. Army (WWII) & was captured in Anzio, Italy & spent 2½ years as a POW in Stalag, VII A, Mooseberg, Germany. Sandy was a mechanic & musician, the guitar being his favorite instrument. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carmen I. Santoni (6-25-95) & grandson, Christopher H. Meyer (11-18-13). Survivors include his 3 daughters; Carmen Rodrigues, Dolores Meyer & Eydie Harris, grandchildren; Philip S. Rodrigues, Laura L. Rodrigues & Kimberly Meyer. A lifetime member of American Legion Post 111, VFW Post 424 & POW/MIA. Sandy was also active with the Veterans Social Rehabilitation Center in Tampa, where he often played his guitar & harmonica, giving lessons to veterans who suffered from PTSD, as he did. We thank the V.A. & John Knox Village for their dedication to all veterans. The family will receive friends Tuesday (today) from 2-4 pm & 7-9pm at the Blount & Curry Carrollwood Chapel. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, 11:30 at the funeral home chapel. Interment with military honors will follow in Florida National Cemetery at 1:30pm.
