My first memory of this sweet lady was as a close  friend of my daughter at 
 Brandon High School.  They remained close, though lived miles apart, spending time as couples over these many years.   When a dear friend from our youth leaves us, it is the loss of a lifetime..Please except my heart felt sympathy  and prayers.

When I think of Sally Johnson, I think first of her kindness and calm demeanor, and her smile.  I loved her smile.   Then I think about her amazing ability to juggle many complex tasks, simultaneously-- again, with that same calm demeanor and smile.

I was extremely lucky to work with Sally for more than 30 years.  She took a big leap of faith to join a brand-new law firm with no track record.   With her help, guidance, and effective leadership over 3 decades, Sally was instrumental in transforming that start-up law firm into a successful law practice with a family atmosphere.  With Sally at the administrative helm, we could concentrate on practicing law, and she took care of running the business.  She was remarkable at it, and basically taught herself as we grew and changed.  

Sally started as a legal assistant, but became our office administrator.   She met every challenge that we ever asked of her, without complaining, and always with a steady hand.  When I look back at this period of technological change, it really is amazing to think of all of the things that she did to keep advancing the firm as technology continued to change.

She was a self-starter, and quick learner.  She was extremely honest and trustworthy.  She never, ever let us down.  She had an amazing calming presence.  She never panicked.  It’s amazing to think of all the things that she did at work, and even more amazing that she learned it all, herself, along the way during our journey together.

But, her true loves were her family:   Jim and Erika and Brooke, and her sister, Robyn.  Boy, did she light up when she talked about any of them.  

I’m shocked and extremely saddened by her sudden passing.  It’s unthinkable that she’s gone, and just another example of the best people leaving us way too soon.  

Rest In Peace, Sally.  We love you.


Oh Sal, what can I say...

You know you took a part of my youth with you when you left so suddenly - I grieve for that, I grieve for my steadfast friend but most of all I grieve for Jim and Erika and Brooke.  My prayers are for them - may they find comfort and peace in memories, may they see you in themselves - may your quiet strength and loving arms embrace them  in this time of unimaginable loss.

I wrote this last year, originally titled it 'Parting Words To a Beloved Child'...we don't always get the chance to say goodbye, but if we did I think we'd say something like this...

To Loved Ones Left Behind

When comes the time 
my days on earth are done
dry your eyes and look 
for me in the rising sun.
No chiseled words 
on marbled stone to see
in the warmth of the sun
is where I'll be -
a bright color in the pattern of sunlit leaves
a sudden shaft of light upon your stormy seas.



Such a beautiful soul always with a smile and nice things to say.  I know she will be missed by all who knew her   Rest In Peace my sweet friend    My sincere sympathies to you Jim, Erica, Brooke and the family
