Obituary of Sarah Jean Scanland
Sarah Jean Scanland was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Sarah will be remembered as a very exceptional person. She was the daughter of Douglas W. Scanland, Sr. and Mary "Jackie" Scanland. Sarah was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area. Sarah was raised with one sibling, her older brother Doug. A typical teenager, Sarah had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Sickles High School in 2000. Sarah enjoyed her college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Sarah was able to manage the balancing act. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of South Florida while working a fulltime job. Sarah worked hard to be a good mother to her children and did her best to fulfill their needs. Sarah was blessed with two children, daughter, Jayleen and son, Conlin. Also, Sarah loved her two rescue dogs, Bubba and Rolo. Sarah enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Sarah worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. She was currently employed with JP Morgan Chase as VP, Senior Project Manager for Strategic Initiatives. Previously, she worked 17 years at MetLife. Sarah always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done. Sarah found pleasure in sports. In high school, Sarah played basketball. Recreational activities included kayaking and hiking. Sarah was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite events whenever she had the chance to do so. Top on her list was the yearly University of Georgia Bulldogs versus University of Florida Gators football game. Sarah enjoyed traveling and time away on family vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things, such as her and Jayleen swimming with sharks off Florida's east coast. Favorite vacations included Vail, Colorado, Sedona, Arizona, Coachella, and many other destinations. Sarah passed away on September 26, 2022, in Tampa. She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas W. Scanland, Sr. She is survived by her children, Jayleen Terwilliger and Conlin Bradshaw; mother, Jackie Scanland; brother, Doug Scanland; fiancé, Chad Dellaripa, as well as extended family and countless friends. Simply stated, Sarah was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives.
