Scott was born on February 19, 1969, to parents Robert Bernard and Barbara Bernard in Tampa, FL, and was the youngest of three siblings. Growing up, he loved model rockets, hunting, hiking, and plane rides with his family. He went on to graduate from Chamberlain High School and then obtained an Associate’s Degree at Hillsborough Community College. Scott then began working at BayCare fixing printers before climbing the ranks to be a Senior Server Analyst in his 35 years at the company.
When Scott wasn’t at work, he was outside. Whether it was camping or hiking in the North Georgia Mountains, or a boat day or bike ride in Tampa, he was always enjoying the nature around him. But if Georgia was too far and Starkey Park was too close, then Walt Disney World was just right. A Disney day with his family was always on his mind, even if it just meant stopping by Epcot for dinner. But most of all, he loved being with his family and his friends. Scott was always perfectly happy to spend the day in if it meant being with the ones he loved, as long as there were Twizzlers and a good movie or an Oklahoma Sooners football game on, he was set.
It was things like that that made Scott Bernard such a wonderful man. He found joy in the simple things and always knew the right answers. He was an ear to those who needed it, whenever they needed it, even if he was on his bike. He was a dad to all and felt immense pride in his title of “Father Scott”. He loved his family fiercely and loved his friends like they were family. And, although I know those who love him hate to see him gone so soon, please know he died doing what he loved with people that he loved.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bobby” Bernard and Barbara Combrink Bernard.
His surviving family includes his wife, Lisa Verducci Bernard, and his kids: Angelina Elisa Bernard (Ethan Puritz) and Brandon Scott Bernard (Aidamar Torres). Grandchildren: Paola Isabelle Torres, Oliver Scott Bernard, and Silas Hector Bernard. He is also survived by his siblings, Shea Bernard and Jaime Bernard Figueredo, and their children and grandchildren.
Scott Bernard’s Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 12:00 pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. The family will receive friends one hour prior. In place of flowers, please consider donating to the Florida Wildlife Federation to help protect the nature that Scott so deeply loved and appreciated.
