Shirley Jean Calhoun

January 25, 1938April 13, 2018

Shirley Jean Calhoun graduated into Glory on Friday, April 13th, 2018 at the age of 80. She was born in Greenfield, Indiana on January 25, 1938 to Max and Georgia Smith. She had two younger sisters, Donna Sue and Carol Ann.

Shirley married Herb Calhoun on December 24th, 1955 and they had 4 children, Max, Lisa, Kelly, and David. She is survived by children Lisa Smith (Steve), Kelly Brown (Steve), and David Calhoun (Myra); 6 grandchildren: David (Melissa) Calhoun; Matthew Calhoun; Kimberly Calhoun; JD (Emma) Brown, Max (Alie) Brown, Stefanie Brown and 2 great-grandsons (Dalen & Matthius); sisters, Donna Medlin (Bob) and Carol Hull, along with too many extended family and friends to list. Her family moved to Tampa, Florida in 1968. She was a long-time member of Trinity Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years.

Shirley expressed many times how grateful she felt for the loving family she was born into with Christian parents and grandparents and then how blessed she was with the family God gave her. She was loved by everyone who met her as she truly exemplified the love of her Savior, Jesus Christ, who taught us “love God with all your heart, soul, and mind...” and “love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matt.22:36-40) We will miss her terribly, but we will see her again, thanks be to God!

My Aunt Shirley was one of the kindest, selfless and most faithful ladies I’ve ever known. I have so many sweet memories of her it would take too long to share them all. We are greatly saddened she was taken from us so soon, but know she is at peace and celebrating in heaven with her loved ones there!
Prayers to all my family who are grieving her loss.

Much love to you all,
Amy, Will and girls
