Shirley Williams passed away on June 19, 2026, at the age of 91, in Tampa, Florida — the place she lovingly called home for 63 years. Her life was defined by devotion to her family, a remarkable work ethic, and a quiet strength that guided those around her.
Born on September 29, 1934, in Charleston, West Virginia, to Stanley and Louise Rywant, Shirley grew up with the values that shaped her entire life: resilience, responsibility, and a deep sense of care for others. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Betty Scott and Norma Perry, all of whom remained close to her heart.
Shirley worked till she was 80, driven by a dedication that inspired everyone who knew her. She believed in doing things the right way, showing up for the people who depended on her, and taking pride in a job well done. These were lessons she passed on naturally, simply by the way she lived.
She was a tough but loving mother, someone who set expectations with the hope of helping her children grow strong and capable. Her guidance was steady, her love unwavering, and her presence a source of comfort and grounding. Beneath her firmness was a generous heart, full of loyalty and deep affection for her family.
Shirley is survived by her three children — Becky Williams, Kim (Gerard) Errico, and Reed (Rhonda) Williams, who carry forward the values she instilled in them. She also leaves behind four grandchildren — Matt (Heather) Medina Trace Williams, Ali Williams, and Rhett (Patrick) Reed, each of whom felt her pride and encouragement throughout their lives.
Her legacy lives on in the strength she modeled, the love she gave freely, and the example she set every day. Her family will remember her as a woman of quiet determination, deep devotion, and a heart that held them all.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood Chapel with the family receiving friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm.
