

Sixto Baez was born August 5, 1935, in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. He was the oldest son of Daniela Nazario and Sebastian Baez. Sixto and his 12 siblings were a tight-knit family growing up in a small and busy home.
Sixto enjoyed a wonderful career as an electrical contractor running his own successful business in Hoboken, NJ, for more than 30 years. His work allowed his open and fun personality to make friends with other contractors, workmen and business owners from all walks of life.
At the age 18 he joined the military, serving during the Korean war in the tank division. After the war he became a reservist and spent his time as a cook.
On May 31, 1952, he married his childhood friend and love of his life, Luz Aida Saez. They celebrated many milestones together, built a life that was full of love, laughs and happiness.
Sixto took great pride in is 30 years of membership in the Freemasons, first in the Great Lodge of New York and later in Lutz, FL.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, traveling to Maine, Hudson Bay, and Wyoming to pursue his passion and love for the great outdoors. His beloved nephew Carlos was his hunting and fishing buddy and a son in many ways.
Besides his loving wife Luz, Sixto is survived by his three daughters: Luz Mercedes and husband Michael of Tampa, Fl, Aracelis and husband Robert of Deland, FL, and Sandra and husband Charles of Maplewood, NJ. His grandchildren Michael E. Smith, Cecilia Hammer and Lila Hammer.
Sisters Elizabeth and Gloria, brothers Anastasio, Wilberto, and Carlos; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Sixto was predeceased by his parents; mother Daniela and father Sebastian, brothers, Teofilo, Raphael, Jose, Pedro, Juan and sister Zenida.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, 3207 W. Bearss Avenue Tampa, FL. A funeral service will follow at 10am a.m.
Interment and Military Honors: April 13, 2022, 12:30pm Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL
