

Born on September 28, 1948, in Sheffield, Alabama, to Lester and Ava Doss, Stanley grew up with an appreciation for family and belonging, as well as a deep sense of independence, determination, and justice. Those qualities defined his life’s journey in Tampa, Florida as he went on to have a successful marriage, family, and career.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kathleen; their three children and their spouses, Angela and her husband Michael, Jason and his wife Joy, and Jessica and her husband Paul; along with six grandchildren who brought him endless joy- Rachel, Allison, Gabriel, Graham, Noah, and Emma.
Guided by his virtues, Stanley led a long career in military and law enforcement. First joining the United States Navy in 1966, which gave him immense pride. Stanley then joined the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office where he served his community loyally for 27 years. His independence, determination, and strong sense of justice defined his work, but it was his deep love for family and belonging that gave his life its greatest purpose.
In honor of Stanley, a visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Blount and Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories located at 4207 E. Lake Ave. Tampa, FL 33610.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. located at 4450 County Rd. 579, Seffner, FL 33584. Following the mass, Stanley will be laid to rest at the Garden of Memories cemetery.
