Susie Houston

Marla Sue Williams Houston, affectionately known to many as "Ms. Susie," passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Tampa, Florida, at the age of 79.

Born on September 21, 1946, in Plant City, Florida, Marla was the beloved daughter of Milton L. Williams and Sadie Martin Williams. She graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1964 and, on April 10, 1965, married the love of her life, Samuel David Houston, in Tampa, Florida. Together, they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.

Marla was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant son, David Randall Houston.

She leaves behind a large and loving family, including her devoted husband, Sam; her sons, Travis and Jason; her cherished grandchildren, Ashton, Kelsey, Raygan, Julia, Lauren, Ellissa, and Hunter; her great-grandchildren, Elijah and Melvin; two brothers and their families; and many nieces and nephews who will forever treasure her memory.

Many knew Ms. Susie, through her faithful service at First Baptist Church of Lutz. Though often working quietly behind the scenes, she played an integral role in the life of the church. She never sought recognition for the countless hours she volunteered and gave of herself. Her servant's heart, humble spirit, and unwavering dedication reflected her deep faith and love for others. She was a true example of Christian service and compassion.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Lutz, 18116 US Highway 41, Lutz, Florida 33549.

At a later date, Marla will be laid to rest at West Oaklawn Cemetery in Plant City, Florida.

Susie's kindness, faithfulness, and gentle presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the church she faithfully served, and the countless lives she touched along the way.
