Thalia Lunsford Potter, age 96, passed away August 18, 2021. She was born in Tampa in 1924 into the large Lunsford family, and married Sydney K. Potter in 1944. They built a home on the Hillsborough River in 1955 and lived there until his death in 2014. Thalia was an activist for natural preservation and good government in her career as an aide to three Florida legislators, and her volunteer work on environmental causes and political campaigns. She attended Unity of Tampa for over 50 years and found enjoyment singing in its choir.
She was predeceased by both of her sons, Skip and Jeff. She is survived by her daughter, Geri Kail; son-in-law, Chris Kail Sr.; granddaughters, Bridget McCully, Brooke Potter, and Heather Riddle; grandson, Chris Kail Jr.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service for Thalia will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
