Tommy was born in Maryville, Tenn. on November 16, 1924 to William "Bill" and Dicie Cummings. Tommy was one of 12 children. He was a share cropper, house painter and later was a paint maker with Harris Paint and then Tanner Paint Co. in Tampa. He served in the U.S. Army as a sharp shooter and machine gunner during World War II in the Philippines. He moved his family to Tampa in 1952. Tommy enjoyed his chewing tobacco for 82 years and mowing the yard.
Survivors include his son, Thomas A Cummings, Jr. and wife, Debbie; six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie and daughter, Patricia.
A Graveside Service will be held 12 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2020 in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hernando Pasco Hospice.
