Such a small space to record even a few memories of my nephew, friend and hunting & fishing buddy, Tom Evans. But I want to share why I will miss him and will think of him often with great memories. Although I am his Uncle, we were close in age (15 years) and as Tom grew older we shared a love for West Florida where we hunted and fished on my brother's property (Tom's Dad). I was privileged to spend a week with Tom in W/Fla. the second week of February of this year. It was then he shared the news of his illness and treatment. During that week he shot two hogs, and I missed a hog and a deer before he sighted-in my rifle. I always told him he was one of my favorite nephews, of course I say that to my other four nephews as well.
Some of my favorite memories of W/Fl will always stay with me..Tom catching 1/2 dozen baby alligators while I stood watch for mama alligator..the time I caught the biggest Bass of my lifetime only for it to slip off the stringer while fishing on Brickyard Lake. I always reminded him he lost that fish on purpose to maintain his fishing prowess. He loved to night fish and one night while on Brickyard Lake we had two fish just jump into the back of the boat. We both have told that story, I still don't think anyone believes it. "Never put tomatoes in the refrigerator" was a rule he taught me. One which I still follow. He showed me how you build strong, comfortable tree stands. Several are still there after many years use. My wife has always said that the two of us were born 200 years too late. The out of doors, hunting, fishing, was our true calling. Crockett and Boone had nothing on us. 
I am very saddened that Tom's fight against cancer was a loosing battle for he was a much too young. I will always cherish our good times together. You had a big heart. Rest in peace nephew and good friend.

I wish the best to your family. Tom was a strong yet supportive friend when we were at Clemson.

I have many fond memories of Tom and his wonderful sense of humor. He gave me three wild and wooly children that have turned into wonderful adults who will miss their father very much.

Tom was my best friend in High School and through college years. I regret we lost touch and I haven't seen him for many years. We had a lot of great times together, memories that I will never forget. My prayers are with his children and family members.

I knew Tom most of my life, as my family went to church with the Evans family in Tampa.  I enjoyed playing softball with him on the church softball team, and spending time with him at his hunting camp.  He had a good sense of humor and was a very friendly and generous person.  My condolences go out to the Evans family.

I knew Tom from a young age when I went to Forest Hills Presbyterian church with my family.  I always enjoyed being around him, whether it was playing softball or tennis or at his hunting camp.  He had a great sense of humor and was a very generous person.

I met Tom many years ago. We shared a passion for fishing and playing pool. As a single mother of four; Tom always was there, to help me and my children with; birthday, holidays, recitals, high school and college graduations. He was there when my first grand child was born. Anytime my children needed help he was there. He set a high moral standard which helped my children mature, into fine adults. He will be dearly missed and always loved.

I met Tom many years ago, we shared a passion for fishing and shooting pool. As single mother of four ; I had many important family events that included ;  birthdays, holidays, high school and college graduations, and the birth of my first grand daughter----Tom was always there for these events. He
was always their to help my children when they needed help. Through his example,  he helped my children grow into adults with high moral values. Tom loved the outdoors. One of the first memories was fishing off the Florida Keys in our boat.  We didn't catch any fish but we caught some fun memories.  We built a cabin in South Georgia.  Tom doing what he does best helped us with some finishing touches on our cabin.  I will never hang a towel without thinking of him.  Being of his height the towel bars are a bit of a reach for me . That's fine. We should all reach as high as Tom did to help each other.  We will miss you friend.  Alan & Shelly Jacobs

Tom has been in some of my favorite and fondest memories. Like shooting ugly ducks with him while sitting on the dock in his backyard or the first time we actually met. I don't remember how old I was at the time, but Tom made the ugliest goulash I have every seen. It was a mix of mashed potatoes, pees, and beef (I think) although it did not look pretty it was good for me. Which can been seen as a parallel to the start of our friend ship. At first I did not know who he was or why he was around, but he was a big part of my life when growing up. Tom had a huge impact on my life I can safely say if Tom had not intervened with my life in those crucial years when I was growing up. I would not be the same person I am today. I would probably have lacked moral judgment, I would not have been self reliant, I would not have been...well...ME.

 My brother mentioned that Tom helped me build my first skate ramp which inevitably lead me to break my first bone. Well rather shatter my arm and after two grueling surgeries I've been left with a huge scar on my left arm. I know that the mark Tom has left is a great one,(pun intended) and because of this he will never truly be gone. We were all lucky to have Tom in our lives. He will be forever missed.

Tom was a good guy - he had a lot of talent and skill. He had a good heart and would have done anything for our family. He did things like build my little brother his first skateboard ramp. I learned a lot about construction working with Tom when he gave me a job with his company. It was always fun hanging out with him. We did a lot of cool things together like going to Disney, the beach and hunting. We always made memories - like one time when he was cooking breakfast and caught the condo kitchen on fire. We still laugh about that from time to time. I'll also never forget the time our family dog got really sick ended up passing away, he was the first person there to help and be by our side - that's the kind of friend he was. A great friend.  I always enjoyed the challenges he presented in rugby and basketball.  I fondly recall great parties at Clemson and all of the inner discussions roommates have.
