Tommy Joe Lawhon, Sr was born August 3, 1934, in Beaumont, Texas. Tom earned his heavenly wings on November 23, 2021. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Glenda Kay Lawhon, his daughter Tanna Smith and her husband Parry, and his son Edward Lawhon and wife Gayle Garland, and daughters Tonya Elizabeth and Tina Raye; Tom is also survived by his sister, Judy Hosch. Tom was blessed with many grandchildren which includes Brittany Lawhon, Ian and Nathan Smith, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Rosemary, sisters Joan Mosley and Jill Wyatt, brother Jody Lawhon, infant sons Thomas and Robert Lawhon, Tommy Lawhon, Jr, and daughter Terry Forgione.
Tom had careers as a Texas Peace Officer, a Private Investigator, and a General Contractor. Tom was incredibly talented in many areas, including engraving, gunsmith and in leather work. Tom was a Master Mason and a Former Exalted Ruler of the Katy Elks Lodge. Tom enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, camping, going to gun shows, and watching ghost stories with those who mattered most. But his favorite pastime of all was giving those around him a hard time!
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Eddie, Anthony, Amanda, Annie, Debbie,and Tracy with Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care for their expert care and support. The family will conduct a private celebration of life. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
