

W.E. “Gene” Jordan age 92 of Largo, Florida passed away peacefully on July 6, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. Gene was born on November 1, 1929, in Quitman, Georgia. He graduated from Largo High School Class of 1948 where he excelled in Football. Upon graduation, Gene honorably served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and after began his career as a skilled welder and fabricator as a Journeyman member of the Ironworkers Union Local 397. Later he became a licensed Certified General Contractor and started his own company, Gene’s Welding & Erecting, Co., Inc. erecting steel and precast concrete panels at many local landmarks in the Tampa Bay area. He also erected some of the first concrete tilt wall buildings in Florida. He went on to develop and operate a commercial real estate complex in Largo, Florida.
Pop, as his loved ones called him, loved building, tinkering and spending time with his family. He had a witty sense of humor and would tell stories to anyone who would listen. He cared deeply for his family and was a devoted friend to many. He survived many family members and friends, including his father Gordon Lee Jordan, mother, Willie Eugenia Berry Jordan and brother Gordon Raymond Jordan.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Betty Eiserman Jordan and his three children, Steve Jordan, Cheryl Jordan and Karl Jordan; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Gene’s family would be honored to receive you on Friday, July 15, 2022 for visitation from 9-10:30am and a Celebration of Life service from 10:30-11:30am at Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood Chapel, located at 3207 West Bearss Avenue, Tampa, Florida, 33618, followed by Military Honors and burial service at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
