Willette Butler, age 87, of Tampa, went home peacefully on October 21st, 2024. Born on July 12th, 1937, in Marion County, Alabama, to H.F. and Winnie Parr. She was raised in Valdosta, Georgia, where she met the love of her life, David I. Butler Jr. with whom she celebrated over 60 years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their family in the close-knit Wellswood neighborhood of Tampa.
Willette, lovingly known as Nana or Grandma, devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. No matter how busy she was, she always found time to welcome you with a warm smile, even if you just stopped by for a quick visit or needed to clean out your car. The door under the carport was always open, and her heart was even more so. She made sure none of her grandkids or great-grand kids ever left hungry.
Selfless to her core, she was always the last one to sit down at supper, making sure everyone had what they needed. Her home was the place to be for many birthdays and holiday celebrations, and no visit ever ended without Nana and Grandaddy walking you out to the car, giving you a hug and a kiss, and waving goodbye as they watch you back down the driveway, their wholesome love following you home.
Willette loved the simple pleasures of life—fishing, bowling, nascar, sewing, and spending many years as an active member of Wellswood Baptist Church. Her generous heart and kind spirit touched everyone who had the good fortune of knowing her.
Willette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David I. Butler Jr., her parents H.F. and Winnie Parr, and brother, Orville Parr.
She is survived by her children, Anita Dukas (George) and David Allan Butler (Anabel); her grandchildren, Dana Sims, Nicole Butler, Andrea Butler, and Andrew Butler; and many great-grandchildren.
A private viewing for family will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024 at 1:30pm with a graveside service to follow at 2pm at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
