

FLETCHER , William Tyler, Jr. , age 70, passed away on September 1, 2014, in Lutz, Fl. He was born on June 5, 1944, in St. Louis, MO, to Alice & William T. Fletcher, Sr. He grew up in St. Joseph, MO, & graduated college with a B.S. Degree in Business in 1967. He moved to Florida in 1968 & married Cheryl in 1977. His company, American Distributors, sold fundraising supplies to schools for 30 years & he was known as the "Candyman." After a lifetime of sports including baseball, football & tennis, his latest passions included sailing & golf. He was a 30 year member of the Davis Island Yacht Club & played golf every chance he got. Bill had a passion for life like no other. Whether on European explorations, countless cross-country road trips, golfing his way around America or racing through Tampa Bay during DIYC regattas, Bill found joy wherever he went. Survivors include his daughter, Katie, his sister, Peggy Colwell and her husband, Tom. Bill never met a stranger, making friends wherever he went-he is also survived by his extended family, friends & any ‘strangers’ he met along the way. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl. Services will be held on September 12, at 3pm at the Blount and Curry Funeral Home, 3207 W. Bearss Ave, Tampa Florida 33618. Please join us to celebrate this man who loved life.
