William “Bill” John Hamilton, Sr., 86, born on November 1, 1937 in Howard, Alabama, departed from this world to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 7, 2024, following a courageous battle of pancreatic cancer.
Bill “Papa Bill” was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother whom he dedicated himself to wholeheartedly. He is survived by his wife, Miriam Nell Hamilton; son, William John Hamilton, Jr.; five grandchildren, Allison Jones (Dominique), Matthew Clymo, Jennifer Griffin (Kirk), Rachael Cowart (Dylan), Samantha Cardenas (Ruben); great-grandchildren, Leah, Mason, Auriella, Ava, Selena, Hayden, and Rylan; brother, Jimmy Lee Hamilton (Billie); nieces, nephews and many extended family members. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Hamilton, and Lexa Bowen; brother, Randy Townsend, his wife of 53 years, Shirley Hamilton; and his daughter, Vivian “Lynn” Densmore (Tom).
Bill spent over 50-years working for United Technologies Corporation, Otis Elevator. During his lengthy career, Bill held multiple positions to, and including, as an Elevator Mechanic and Elevator Construction Supervisor. After his retirement, Bill returned to work as an Elevator Inspector for (NEIS) National Elevator Inspection Services, Inc., A Bureau Veritas Company and continued his employment until his passing.
Bill enjoyed traveling across the country in his motor home visiting his relatives in addition to attending numerous church services, revivals, and camp meetings.
Bill has been a dedicated member of the First Freewill Baptist Church for 33-years. During this time, Bill served as a church trustee and felt it was God’s calling to also teach the adult Sunday school class. If you knew Bill, you knew the many, many hours he dedicated into studying his lessons to make sure everyone understood the message.
The family will receive guests for a visitation on March 18, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. at the First Freewill Baptist Church, located at 11605 US Highway 92 East, Seffner Florida, 33584, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 A.M.
Interment: For immediate family only at graveside in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
