Thornton, William R. "Bill" 92, of Maderia Beach died December 13, 2023. Born in Tampa Florida, Bill graduated from Jefferson High School in 1949; served in the US Army from 1953-59; worked 26 years at Exchange National Bank and retired as Vice President at age 45 to run his successful Real Estate and Investment Firm. Married to Mary Jane for 71 years they travelled to 110 countries and seven continents.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Sue Austin and her sons, Buddy and Trevor Austin; Son, Michael Thornton and his wife, Julie; their daughter, Cassie DiBacco and sons, Stephen, Brian, Kevin and Robert Thornton.
Services will be held at Blount and Curry Funeral Home located at 3207 W. Bears Ave, Tampa on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 11 am. The family will receive friends one hour prior starting at 10am. A graveside service with Military honors to take place at 1pm at Garden of Memories located at 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa.
