

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Joe and Martha Ray; sisters, Leota Ray Long, Shirley Ray Barton, and Vicki Ray Greer.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia; three children, Cheryl Ray Haire (Philip), Janith Ray Suddath (Ross), Allen Ray (Denise); eight grandchildren, Samuel, Emily, Luke, Savannah, Michael, Katherine, Caroline, Zackary; three great-grandchildren, Eleanor, August, Charlotte; and his beloved little Yorkie, Dixie. Also, surviving are his brothers, Dr. W. J. Ray (Marie) and Edmond Ray.
He graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1958 and proudly served in the U.S Army for four years. He graduated from the University of Tampa with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Sociology.
Woody served the State of Florida for 31 years as a law enforcement agent with the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco.
He loved the Lord. He passionately lived for his family and would do anything for them. Woody loved his country, as evidenced by the American flag he proudly flew outside his home. He will be missed.
A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. August 20, 2021 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, Tampa, Fla. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
