Yvonne Marie Hendrix

Yvonne Marie Hendrix (often called “MeeMaw” by many) age 86, of Brandon FL, peacefully passed away on December 22, 2024 from natural causes. She was born on January 2, 1938 to Oris and Gertrude Murray in Columbus, OH. She graduated from East High School, Columbus OH and ventured to further studies at Wilberforce University. She landed her first job as a librarian at a local library, then kicking off her career as an executive secretary for IBM Corporation which she retired from 21 years.

After retiring from IBM in 1991, she took a few years to enjoy life and decided to join Seniors In Service of Tampa Bay, Inc. as a volunteered Foster grandparent to assist teachers with kids in need (as she had a passion for kids) for 17 years where she had her 2nd retirement in 2018.

Yvonne was a devoted and nurturing mother and grandmother, who always displayed a pillar of strength with love and unity for her family! She was a spiritual woman who honored God! As her hobbies: she loved to read, travel, shop and participated for several years with Special Olympics of Florida! She loved hard, touched so many lives and will be missed dearly by her family, friends and all who knew her!

Yvonne leaves behind to cherish her memory; daughter, Farah Turk and husband Ronald Turk; daughter Kim Hendricks; sons: Anthony Hendricks Sr., Robert Hendricks Jr., Brian Hendricks and Dondi Hendricks; surviving sibling: Beverly Abrams along with a host of grandchildren , nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents; Oris and Gertrude Murray, siblings: Bobby Murray, David Murray, Anne Sullivan and Cissy Sullivan, sons: Phillip Murray and Kevin Hendricks.

A visitation for Yvonne will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Blount&Curry Funeral Home @ Garden of Memories, 4207 E LAKE AVE, TAMPA, FL 33610. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 4207 E LAKE AVE, TAMPA, FL 33610. A committal will occur Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, 4207 E LAKE AVE, TAMPA, FL 33610.
