Zulma M. De Jesus Torres

Born on March 19, 1953, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Zulma—lovingly known as “Zulie” to her family and “DJ” among her friends—was the second-born daughter of the late Ada M. Torres Torres and Clemente De Jesus Montero. She spent her childhood years in New York City, attending William Howard Taft High School, but her heart called her back to her beloved island of Puerto Rico in her early 20s, where she made her lifelong home.

Zulie went on to serve as an Office Operations Assistant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for 27 dedicated years. A truly hard worker who was held in high regard by supervisors and colleagues alike, she received numerous awards throughout her career for her outstanding performance.

Known for her gentle and loving nature, generous heart, deep devotion to her family, and profound faith in God, Zulie brought light and warmth into every room. She possessed a superior level of organization and found immense joy in making her home a true sanctuary, always updating it with the latest touches. Outside of work, Zulie had a deep passion for music—especially English and Spanish “oldies”—and an overwhelming love for her fur-babies, whom she cherished deeply over the years.

Zulie is survived by her sisters, Myrna De Jesus, Mabel De Jesus, and Betty De Jesus; her Godchildren, Jessica Otaño and Adrian Williams; her lifelong partner, Madeline Rivera; and her darling fur-baby, Maxi; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ada M. Torres Torres and Clemente De Jesus Montero.
