He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Louis and Christine Kubala, and an older brother, Leroy Kubala.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Velma Jean Pokorny Kubala. They were married on June 22, 1957. They were married for 58 years. Alvin faithfully took care of her until the day she died.
He is survived by his daughter, Sheila Dawn Urbanek and son-in-law, Gordon.
He is lovingly remembered by his two grandsons, Weston and Wade Urbanek and great-grandchildren, Riley and Altin Urbanek. He is also survived by his younger brother, Sidney Kubala and sister-in-law Harriet, and sister-in-law, Delores Kubala. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Alvin was born on June 8, 1936, in Taylor, Texas, and attended high school there. He went to work for Alcoa after graduating and then worked for American Founders Insurance for a number of years. He retired from the L.C.R.A in 1994 after 18 years of service.
Alvin enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He was a faithful member of the Brethren Church all his life and served as an elder and member of the choir.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 3, at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas, from 5:00-7:00 pm. The funeral service will be at the Taylor Brethren Church on Thursday, February 4, at 11:00 . Burial will be in the Taylor City Cemetery.
