Clara Roepke

Clara L. Roepke, age 91, of Thorndale, TX passed away on Thursday January 3, 2019 at the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Taylor, TX. Clara was a lifelong resident of Thorndale, TX and a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Thorndale, attending service every Sunday until she was no longer able to do so. She was baptized on January 9, 1927, the day she was born, and was confirmed at St. Paul’s on March 1, 1942. Clara married Edwin Roepke on October 23, 1949, and she worked at Thorndale Hardware for many years until she retired. Clara was very loved by her family, and enjoyed her weekly grocery shopping trips to Taylor with her granddaughters. Her family will miss her dearly and will always remember her saying “I’m still kicking, just not that high.” Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Roepke; her daughter, Linda Marcon; and her granddaughter, Sherri Marcon. She is survived by her granddaughters, Kristi Jones and husband Willie and Melissa Hill and husband Mark; her great-grandchildren, Daryn Gamez, Hayden Hill, and Ava Hill; and her sisters, Ruby Unnasch and Verna Mae Jatzlau. Visitation will be held on Saturday January 5, 2019 from 9am to 10 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. Funeral services will be Saturday January 5, 2019 at 10am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. Burial will follow at St. Paul Luther Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Jatzlau, Randy Jatzlau, Chris Becker, Earl Biels, Bobby Unnasch, Glenn Unnasch, Marty Irwin, and Steven Granzin. The family would like to thank the staff at the S.P.J.S.T. for the wonderful care they gave Clara over the years. We will miss you Nana love always.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Ms Clara working at the hardware store and walking to collect cans from neighbors. She was a hard working lady and instilled that to her daughter and granddaughters. God bless and be with you all during this time of sorrow.
