

Dolores was affectionately known by her family and friends as Mom, Doe, Aunt Doe and Little Velasquez. Her favorite title was Grandma/Momo, as she touched many lives in many ways. She was a kind hearted woman who helped anyone in need, she always offered a place to stay and a warm meal. Dolores always provided a listening ear and honest advice, even if we didn’t want the truth. She taught her family and friends how to be strong, independent and instilled her work ethic in those she loved.
Dolores attended St. Mary’s school all her life and graduated from St. Mary’s in 1964. While in high school Dolores worked for the City of Taylor at the police department. Dolores went on to work for the Municipal Court where she started as a court clerk then moved in the role of Associate Judge, a career she was devoted to until her retirement in 2012. Dolores spent most of her life working two jobs. In addition to her career with the Municipal Court she had a passion for baking and decorating cakes for her dear friends and family. She was such a great baker and baked so often many of her kid’s shied away from sweets as they grew older. Dolores loved listening to music and spent many nights dancing and singing to George Strait.
Dolores was a fighter and fought until the very end. She will be missed greatly by all the family and friends who were touched by her life.
Dolores is survived by her children, James Chavana and Linda, Camille Chavana Nunez, and Diego Ortiz and Kristen; her grandchildren, Ramon Nazario and Otesha, Brittany Chavana and James Ponce, Jacob San Migel and Briana, Erik Nunez, Eric Alderete and Joie, Alanmykal Jackson and Jessica and Damacio, Trendon, Kaiya, and Titan Ortiz; her Great Grandchildren, James Ryan, and Evan Ponce, and Rylee San Migel; and her siblings, Manuel Velasquez, Cruz Velasquez and Rosie, Frank Velasquez and Dora, Mary Velasquez, Josie Velasquez, Manuel Salazar Velasquez, Tina Savedra and Johnny Savedra. 8 nephews, 9 nieces, 5 great nephews, 12 great nieces and 1 great great nephew.
A visitation will be held on Sunday August 16, 2020 from 6pm-8pm at Condra Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday August 17, 2020 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Velasquez, Martin Velasquez, Benjamin Velasquez, Adrian Segura, Ramon Nazario, and Eric Alderete. Honorary pallbearers will be Brittany Chavana, Jacob San Migel, Erik Nunez, Alanmykal Jackson, Damacio Ortiz, Trendon Ortiz, Kaiya Ortiz, and Titan Ortiz.
