Gracie Ann Cargill

Gracie Schneider Cargill was born July 14th, 1949 at Taylor Hospital to Martin & Lorine Biar Schneider. She would then be Baptized on August 7th, 1949 by Pastor F.H. Stelzer at St Paul Lutheran Church. She would grow up with an older brother Kelton and older sister, Angie.

Gracie would receive a Lutheran education at St Paul Lutheran School, where she was confirmed on April 7th, 1963 by Pastor Vernon Appel. She would then attend Thorndale High School. After high school Gracie would move to Austin to attend cosmetology school.

After cosmetology school, Gracie would return to Thorndale and begin working at the Hi-Way Beauty Shop. She would later move her clientele to downtown Thorndale at the Family Hair Salon, where she would eventually retire after a 40+ year career.

Once back in Thorndale, Gracie would meet Jimmy Cargill. They would marry on Mother’s Day, May 9th, 1971 at St Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Vernon Appel officiating. Gracie and Jimmy were married for 52 years and had two children: a daughter, Lora and a son, Heath.

Gracie ABSOLUTELY loved her family:

She would show that love in many ways: Her favorite way was by having her grandchildren stay the night. They would stay up late eating ice cream or she would be up early making their favorite breakfast for each child. She loved her children. They could always count on “mom” making their favorite meal or dessert. Or, teaching her great niece how to make French toast and fried eggs, or making party mix for her nephews. She loved her husband the most and would even leave the sugar off her sugar cookies just for him.

Husband: Jimmy Cargill, Daughter: Lora Kropp (John) Son: Heath Cargill (Kathy) Grandchildren: Kailey Groves (David), Kassidy, Kinley, Karstyn and Karlie Cargill; Great-Grandchild Hayden Groves; Sister-in-law: Alice Schneider, Velma Zajicek, and Joy Sumner; Brother-In-Law Jerry Cargill (Brenda) and Many Wonderful Nieces and Nephews.

Gracie is preceded by:

Parents: Martin and Lorine Schneider; Brother: Kelton Schneider; Sister: Angie Becker; Brother-in-laws: Ronnie Becker, Vernon Ellington, Jack Zajicek and Bobby Cargill; Sister-in-law Vickie Cargill, Doris Ellington, and Beverly Cargill.

A visitation for Gracie will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Condra Funeral Home, Taylor, Texas. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Thorndale, TX.

Gracie will be laid to rest in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Thorndale, TX.
