Isabella Richter D’Aigle Smith was born on 8-6-26 to Fred C. and Vera (Noak) Richter in Wallis, Texas, the seventh of eight siblings. She graduated as valedictorian from Wallis High School in 1943 and then moved to Temple, Texas. While working as a dental assistant and dental hygienist at both Camp Hood and McCloskey General Hospital she met and married Albert A. D’Aigle on 10-12-45. They were married 31 years before his death on 7-20-76
They had four children, Isabella Alice, Allen William, Diane Theresa (all deceased at birth) and her surviving child Anthony Kirk. She gave thanks for the gift and joy of her only surviving child.
They moved to Taylor, Texas in 1947 where over the years she worked for a local dentist, cashier at McCory’s, part time alteration work at home and over 22 years at Taylor Bedding doing clerical work and as credit manager.
On 11-4-78 Issy married Vernon Smith at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a member of St. Paul’s since joining in 1947. Her church activities included choir in the 50’s, Women of the Church (President in 1958), taught Sunday School Confirmation Class for 18 years and the Adult Bible Class for 8 years, co-taught Confirmation Class with Pastor Herber, served as Sunday School Superintendent, Parrish Education, worship and outreach committees, directed numerous Christmas Programs, Ruth Circle and the Bereavement Committee. Serving bereaved families at their most difficult time was important for her as well.
Her community involvement included American Cancer Society, Board Member of the New Century Club and she participated in the Relay for Life. She was a cancer survivor and helped other cancer survivors through Reach to Recovery and Road to Recovery. She also helped with Meals on Wheels.
She was very creative as a seamstress and in later years as an artist. She wanted her paintings to have a message. She also hand painted Christmas ornaments, usually with a special message for the person receiving them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three children, four brothers, two sisters, both brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, four nieces and four nephews.
She is survived by her son Anthony D’Aigle and wife Kathryn, step-daughter Carol Moore and her husband Tom, Sisters-in-law Dean and Francis Richter, four grandchildren, Randy Shira (wife Trina), Cricket Moffett (Marvin), Craig Shira (wife Mindy), Doug Moore (wife Jill), great grandchildren Jennifer (husband Mark), Kimberlee (husband Mike), Alan (wife Taylor), Matthew (Amanda), Justin (wife Alison), Logan (wife Ashlea), Aaron, Sidneigh, Jake, Ben and Brooke and three great great-grandchildren, Anthony, Brooklynnn and Elizabeth, nieces, Jane (Paul), Lee Ann, Sandra (James), Tammy (Rene), Becky, nephews Larry (Gracie), Richard, Ron (Nell) and (Harold) and numerous great nieces and nephews.
