Linda was born in Friendship, Texas on December 14, 1946 to Spec Ponder and Nathalie Dickerson Ponder. A proud graduate of Granger High School, she went on to attend Temple Junior College, and to married Thomas Wilbur Towery from Thorndale.
Linda was a State of Texas retiree, where she worked for the Texas Department of Transportation and the Adjutant General’s Office at Camp Mabry. A member of Granger, First Baptist Church, she enjoyed singing in the choir and serving in the Church she grew up in. Over the course of her life, she was Coach and Mother-hen to so many, but her proudest accomplishment came in 1997, when she attained the title of MeeMaw. Truly, her grandchildren were her crowning glory and the light of her life – and she was fabulous at it! She was very actively involved in everything they did and rarely missed a night in the stands to see them march, dance or cheer.
Survived by her daughter, Trina Towery Miller and son-in-law, Scott Miller of Bastrop, son Toby Tom Towery and daughter-in-law, Suzette Towery of Taylor; four cherished and adored grandchildren, Callie (23) and Cate (16) Miller of Bastrop and Kayla Towery (16) of Taylor; sister Beverly Ponder Tonn and brother-in-law, William Tonn and nephew Brian Tonn, of Walburg, she also had a large host of aunts, uncles and cousins whom she dearly loved.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved grandson, Sam Miller (7), who passed away in 2015.
Though we mourn our earthly loss, we find great comfort knowing she was met with a magnificent heavenly reunion with those she so loved.
