

If anyone ever cared, really cared for someone else it would have to be Margarito Perez. He was a warm hearted and well liked individual, and these wonderful traits came easily to him because he was such a sociable and amiable person, someone who was always making certain that those around him had whatever they needed. Margarito was a talkative person who was tactful at all times but typically said what he meant.
Margarito was born in Bartlett, Texas. He was the son of Francisco and Juanita Herrera Perez. Margarito was raised on the family farm in between Bartlett and Holland Texas. During his childhood he worked hard and he learned to be reliable and respectful. Margarito was an obedient child who wanted to win the favor of others. He found it easy to show empathy and to perform kind acts for others. These admirable qualities would become a part of Margarito's personality throughout his life.
Though Margarito was frequently the one to initiate family time and he always enjoyed doing so. Margarito was a peace-maker with an ability to resolve all sorts of family conflicts. In fact, Margarito worked conscientiously to keep those typical family spats at bay. Margarito was raised with five siblings. He had two brothers, Urbano and Donaciano and three sisters, Senaida, Julia and Silveria and he cared deeply for each one.
As someone who reveled in the sheer joy of his experiences, Margarito was always enthusiastic about new adventures. One thing Margarito will certainly be remembered for is that, when he got up in the mornings, he was ready and raring to go. As a young boy, Margarito had a number of interests and was an active child. Margarito took part in baseball.
Margarito was a faithful and loving person. Some would even call him sentimental and a romantic at heart. His kindness and consideration radiated an aura of warmth to those around his. Margarito cared for what others thought and carried that into his marriage. Compassionate and devoted, Margarito worked hard to make his new life partner happy.
Harmony was important to Margarito and he made every effort to maintain it with his family. Margarito was blessed with five children, three daughters, Ester, Diana, and Patricia and two sons, Martin and Reynaldo. They were also blessed with fifteen grandchildren, Carol, Lori, Leigh, Nick, Ben, Jonathan, Ashlee, Marla, Rey Jr., Lucas, Roman, Alysse, Kelsey, Bernard Jr. , and Chris. Margarito was always conscious of the feelings others had. He was reasonable and understanding. As a result, Margarito would ask how they were doing and he made everyone feel important.
Taking his work seriously came naturally to Margarito, and he expected the same from those around him. Margarito was a good team player, someone who was born to teach and cooperate with others. He was what some would call a “people person” and it was demonstrated in his good communication skills. Margarito was a steady worker, one who was realistic about schedules. He would give the kind of details that would give family members and work colleagues were situations that Margarito handled well. He could understand the details without getting lost in the broad “big picture.” First job at 18 yrs. old was for an electric company, 2nd job was at Bartlett Meat Market and final job was Ralph Wilson Plastics. He was employed for 2 years Installing Power Lines, 24 years cutting, packaging and selling meats, and 24 years manufacturing Laminate plastics. He brought harmony to his work environment, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done, while always maintaining respect for his colleagues.
A methodical man, Margarito enjoyed spending time working on his various hobbies. He had no problem following all of the steps and instructions on a given project and was proud of the fact that he could have something to show for his efforts. His favorite pursuits were fishing and playing guitar.
His high moral standards and traditional values served Margarito well with his faith. Religion and faith were important to him. He was a member of Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. During that time, he was an active first degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was well respected because he was such an outgoing individual who sought to help in any manner he could.
Since it was easy for Margarito to meet and get to know new people, he quickly made friends, even in retirement. Once he met those new friends, he loved sharing stories and talking about the good old days. Since he was practical and cost effective, Margarito was ready when that day to retire finally came in June 1, 1994. In retirement, he found new pleasure in fishing, travel to visit family and attend grandkids sporting events. Even in retirement, Margarito stayed in touch with his old friends and made plenty of new acquaintances. He was active in the community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities that retirement offered him.
Margarito passed away peacefully on July 11, 2017 at Will 'O Bell Nursing Home in Bartlett, Texas. He is survived by loving wife Maria O. Perez of 63 1/2 years, 5 children; 3 daughters; Ester, Diana(Billy), Patricia(Bernard), and 2 sons Martin(Sonia) and Reynaldo(Brenda). 15 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Services were held at Saints. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Margarito was laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger, Texas.
Margarito was a fantastic conversationalist who could engage with anyone in a discussion, and whenever he said something, he meant it. Margarito was a down to earth person, outgoing and sociable. He was without question the type of person who enjoyed experiencing things first hand. He was practical and sensible, but what friends and family will remember him for most is the fact that he was so understanding and kind. Everyone whose life he touched will miss Margarito Perez.

Margarito Perez, 84 went to be with our Lord on July 11, 2017. Born July 20, 1932 in Bartlett Texas, Margarito and his 2 younger brothers grew up helping on the family farm. In December 26, 1953, Margarito and Maria Ofelia Cortez were married in Bartlett, Tx. Their lifelong-marriage, relationship with the church and family demonstrated his love for God and a life that was led with strong Christian values at home and work. He co-owned Bartlett Meat Market with his brother Urbano and later began working with Ralph Wilson Plastics where he retired in June 1994. Margarito had a love for his family, friends and all who entered his life. He continued to energetically enjoy his retirement and included favorite pastimes with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His optimistic love for life will always hold a special place in the hearts of his family& friends.
Margarito was preceded in death by his father and mother, Francisco and Juanita Perez, stepmother Petra Perez all of Bartlett and granddaughter D’Onna Destiny Powell and son-in-law Oscar W. Smith.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Maria Ofelia, children Mary Ester of Killeen,Tx.Diana(Billy Barton) of Moffat, Martin(Sonia) of Davilla, Reynaldo(Brenda), Patricia(Bernard S. Luna) all of Bartlett, and 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm on July 14 at Goodnight Funeral Home, Bartlett, TX
Mass at 10 am on July 15 at St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, TX. With burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery
