“Bobby Cortinas was born on June 14, 1982, in Taylor, Texas, to Robert and Adela Cortinas. The family spent the first few months of Bobby’s life in a humble home in Taylor before eventually settling in Granger, Texas, where he would grow up surrounded by love, family, and opportunities to explore the world around him.
From an early age, Bobby grew up with a sense of adventure and curiosity. As the family grew, Bobby welcomed his younger brother into the world and proudly took on the role of big brother, a title he took seriously. Family meant everything to Bobby, and he cherished the relationships he shared with his loved ones and friends. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, whose companionship brought him joy throughout his life.
Bobby attended Granger High School, where he participated in wrestling, basketball, and football. One of his proudest accomplishments was being part of the 1997 Granger football team that brought home a state championship, a memorable moment in the history of his hometown.
Bobby had a lifelong passion for cars and loved nothing more than getting behind the wheel and heading out for a drive. He certainly wasn’t one to take it easy on his vehicles, as he enjoyed putting them through their paces. His love for automobiles led him to pursue his passion professionally, attending Del Mar College in Corpus Christi to study automotive mechanics.
During his college years, Bobby lived along the Texas coast at the family’s home in Rockport. While there, he also volunteered aboard the USS Lexington, an experience that added another chapter to his life of exploration and discovery.
Bobby will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his adventurous nature, his passion for cars, and the special place he held in the hearts of those who knew him. His life was woven into the stories, memories, and experiences he shared with others, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Bobby is survived by his mother, Adelita Arellano-Cortinas; his brother, Jonathan Arellano-Cortinas; and his sister, Athena Garcia. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, along with his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other family members and friends who will continue to cherish his memory.
Though Bobby’s time here has come to an end, the memories he created, the love he shared, and the impact he made on those around him will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.”
