

Robert Eugene Sovil Jr., devoted husband, loving father, proud brother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosie E. Sovil; his son, Robert E. Sovil III and Kristen R. Sovil his daughter, Amanda M. Myers & Michael C. Myers, grandchildren Aidan, Ethan, and Declan Myers, and his brothers, Michael H. Sovil and Darla J Sovil, David W. Sovil and Jerrie M Sovil, 3 nephews and 1 niece, 4 great nephews, and 5 great nieces.
Robert honorably served in the United States Navy as a Sonar Technician (STG2, E-5), demonstrating dedication and courage to his country. Following his military service, he became a successful entrepreneur, founding and operating The Water Jug, and the New Orleans Shaved Ice in Taylor, Texas where he was known for his warmth, integrity, and community involvement. He was a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and retired as a Petroleum Engineer for the Federal Bureau of Land Management in March of 2026.
He had a deep love for travel, particularly long stays in Mexico and serene days at the beach. Above all, he treasured time spent with his beautiful wife, Rosie, and his family. A committed member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor, Texas, Robert’s faith was a guiding light throughout his life.
He will be remembered for his generous heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 2pm. Interment will follow at Capital Parks Cemetery.
