Werner William Dally, 94, lifelong farmer and rancher in the Taylor area, passed away peacefully in Round Rock, Texas early Tuesday morning, October 2. Werner was born on June 10th, 1924 in Thorndale, Texas first of three children of Werner and Annie Dally. During WWII, he entered the US Army in December 1943, serving in Okinawa where he was wounded, and awarded a Purple Heart. Werner was a longtime member of VFW Post 4009 Thorndale, Texas and also a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale.
Werner was preceded in death by his parents, Werner and Annie Dally, wife, Martha Finn Dally, brother, Walter Dally and nephew Ricky Stewart and nephew-in-law, Earl Hagn.
He is survived by his sister Dorothy Plattow, sister-in-law Vivian Dally, niece Jennifer Kieschnick and husband Larry, niece Brenda Hagn, great nieces Kristen Kieschnick, Larissa Ensor and husband Matt, Heather Smith and husband Chris.
Visitation will be at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor on Friday, Oct. 5th from 6-8PM.
Funeral service will be held in Condra Chapel on Sat. Oct.6th at 10 AM with burial to follow in Taylor City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Billy Carlson, Matt Ensor, David Hall, Trey Janak, Roger Rodenbeck, and Chris Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Cadan and Larry Kieschnick.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
Werner’s family wishes to thank the caring staff of Will-O-Bell Nursing Home in Bartlett and Baylor Scott and White Round Rock medical team for their attention and care for Werner in his final days. And special thanks to Pastor Mel Sawyer for his many visits, compassion and support and to Pastor Suellen Myers for her kindness and support.
