Floyd Lewis Welch age 81 of Tazewell, passed away on Saturday September 8th 2018, surrounded by his family and friends at his home. Floyd was born November 11, 1936. Floyd was very proud of his time he spent in the United States Navy. He served on the first guided missile ship the U.S.S. Boston. Floyd was also very proud of his family. He was saved at the late age of 78, but during his final days left a wonderful testimony with his family. Floyd done drywall work most of his adult life. He and Gettie Lee Johns were married on April 27, 1975. They shared a wonderful 43 years together. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Frank Bart Welch(father), Lillie Mae Williams Welch (Mother). Brothers Clarence Welch and wife Sue, Ray Welch and wife Goldie ,Taylor Welch and wife Naomi ,Fate Welch, Joe Welch and wife Ada, J.D. Welch ; sisters Marie and Joe Yeary, Helen and Herbert Neal, Gertrude and Clyde Wolfenberger. Father and mother-in-law Sterling and Naomi Johns; Brother-in-laws Lawrence and Howard Johns.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife Gettie Lee Welch, daughters Leanne and Nicholas Epperson, Teresa and Tim Drummonds. Grandchildren Shelby Grace Drummonds and Max Lee Epperson, sister-in-law Brenda Welch and a host of nieces , nephews , family and friends. A special Thanks to his care givers Kelli Pack, Shana Goins , and Ann Cook. Also a special thanks to Suncrest Hospice medical staff.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 P.M. Monday September 10, 2018 with funeral service to follow at 7:00 P.M. Monday night in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in the cook cemetery. Minister: Rev. Tim Drummonds
