George Dean Young

Mr. George Dean Young age73 of Tazewell , was born August 1, 1947 , passed away peacefully at his home on August 6, 2020. George was also know by those who knew him as Hicks, Skinny George, or Strawberry.

George professed his salvation several years ago, while in the hospital. He loved playing cards and played his last hand the same day he passed away.

He was preceded in death by parents Lillard "Buck" and Eliza Hurst Young; brother Bruce Young.

George is survived by Daughter Elizabeth (Martin) Farmer; Son Benjamin "Ben" Young; Former wife and life partner Debbie Shockley; Step-son Brad(Jamie) Shockley; Grandchildren Evan(Brandy) Johnson; Logan Johnson;

and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Monday August 10 from 5-7pm at the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in New Tazewell with funeral service to follow at 7pm, graveside service will be Tuesday August 11, 2020 at 11am in the Fairview Cemetery; with Rev. Jerry Epperson officiating services; Rev. Jerry & Carolyn Epperson will be the singers. Pallbearers: Evan Johnson, Logan Johnson, Martin Farmer, Brad Shockley and B.J. Mullins; Honorary Pallbearers: All of His card playing Buddies.
