Joseph Joe Dean Harness

Joseph Dean Harness, age 85, of New Tazewell, Tn. was born March 13, 1926 and went to be with the Lord on June 25, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Knoxville, Tn. He was a member of Carr’s Branch Baptist Church; a 53 year Master Mason with the Blazing Star #455. He was retired from the TN. Forestry Division after 31 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Ethel Alice Pilkey Harness; wife of 58 years, Christine Harmon Harness; brothers, Jerry, Bill, Ben, Phillip, John, Pete, and Mike Harness; sisters, Ester Harness and Laney Stooksbury. He is survived by his sons, Tom (Jan) Harness of New Tazewell and Dwight (Betty) Harness of Brooks, Ga; grandchildren, Christine (Garett) Thompson, Amanda (Scott) Nipple, Matt (Jenna) Harness, Elizabeth and Laura Harness; great granddaughter, Abigail Thompson; sister, Pansey Harness; sisters-in-law, Kathy Harness, Ann Harness, Charlotte Harness, Margaret Harness, Carol Harness, Maxine (Bob) Gray, Thelma (Al) Bright; brother-in-law, Dewey (Michelle) Brooks; special niece and nephew, Ethel Day and James E. “BillY” Harness and special caregiver, Brenda Sweet; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carr’s Branch Baptist Church, C/O David Cole, 192 Cole Rd., New Tazewell, Tn. 37825. Family will receive friends from 5-7 PM , Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with Masonic Service and funeral to follow at 7:00PM wit Rev. Gary Tye, Rev.
