

Elizabeth “Betty” Camp, 84, of Tekonsha, passed away September 5, 2012. She was born January 6, 1928 in Colon to Earl and Bertha (Collins) McAtee.
In 1929 when her grandfather McAtee died, the family moved to a farm in Sherwood to be with her grandmother. When her mother died in 1932, her grandmother bought and moved the family to a farm northwest of Tekonsha, (Now the Harvey farm) where she grew up. Except for two years in Battle Creek her life was spent in Tekonsha. Betty attended the French School through the 6th grade and graduated from Tekonsha High School.
She married Clarence “Vern” Camp June 16, 1946 in Coldwater. He preceded her in death December 1985. Betty worked several years at W.K.Kellogg Company and retired from the Coldwater Regional Center.
She belonged to Union Church United Church of Christ, Tekonsha Research Club, Tekonsha Library Board, S.E.R.A. (State Employees Retirement Association) and Bid and Bite bridge club. She was an avid bowler for many years and golfed in later years.
Betty is survived by daughters; Linda Geer of Tekonsha, Patti (Bud) Woods of Marshall, Janet (and the late Mike) Woods of Marshall, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one brother, Carl McAtee of Leesburg, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step mother, 2 brothers, Vern McAtee, Richard McAtee and half brother David McAtee.
Visitation will be Friday, September 7, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Putnam’s of Tekonsha. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Church United Church of Christ in Tekonsha with Rev. Barbara Pryor officiating. Friends may also visit at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
