

Gale grew up in Tekonsha and graduated from Tekonsha High School in 1954. On July 3, 1959, he married Judith E. Martinson in Tekonsha. She survives.
Gale went to work for Keep and Martinson Lumber Yard in 1959. That business was established in 1875. He eventually became the Owner and Operator of the business that he loved. Gale was a former fire chief and was currently a member of the Tekonsha Township Fire Board. He is a current member of the Tekonsha Village Council, a former school board member, a member of the Tekonsha Lions Club, and a member of the Union Church United Church of Christ where he serves on the church council as building and grounds chairman. Gale loved his town of Tekonsha, the Michigan State Spartans, and all children, especially his grandchildren.
Gale is survived by his wife Judy; two sons, Tim (Kris) Jenkins of Tekonsha and Tony (Jill) Jenkins of Traverse City; and five grandchildren, Katie and Connor Jenkins and Emily, Maggie and Lily Jenkins. Surviving also are sisters-in-law Lynne (Doug) Kane, Kay (Jim) Cherry and Peggy Campbell, and many wonderful friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Gloria Ivey and brothers-in-law Jim Campbell and Bud Ivey.
Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Putnam’s of Tekonsha. Services will be Tuesday May 15, 2012, at 11:00 AM from the Union Church United Church of Christ with one hour of viewing before the service. Pastor Barbara Pryor will officiate. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha. Memorial contributions may be given to the Union Church or the Tekonsha High School Athletic Department.
