

He is survived by a son: Paul Nagel of Dexter and a daughter; Leslie Nagel of Dexter, his mother, Julia Nagel of Tekonsha, 7 sisters; Gladys (Dan) Gibbons of Ann Arbor, Mary (Sid) Shakinis of Muskegon, Joyce (Steve) Ciotta of Ft. Payne, AL, Ruth (Denny) DeVos of Casnovia, MI, Rose (Rich) O’Donnell of Mentor, OH, Linda (Alex) Tatar of Marshall, Leslie (Greg) Reagle of Homer, 3 brothers; Joseph (Sheryl) Nagel of Homer, Martin Nagel of Tekonsha, Michael Nagel of Tekonsha, former wife; Margaret Nagel of Dexter. He was preceded in death by his father, 1 sister, Teresa Ann Nagel.
John was a 1975 graduate of Tekonsha High School, valedictorian of his class and class president. He also graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a CPA. John had two achievements in life, first was starting short stop of Tekonsha Indians while in high school. His second achievement was marrying Margaret Philips. John had a great sense of humor, often crude, and enjoyed writing poetry. He loved watching things grow in nature and he especially loved children. He was a member of K of C, St. Joseph parish in Dexter, Michigan.
Visitation will be Friday, April 20, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Putnam’s of Tekonsha. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima in Union City with Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
