Allen proudly served in The United States Air Force as a cargo pilot during WWII—fulfilling his dream of flying airplanes.
He was married to Blanche Yanda for 60 years until she passed 8 years ago. After raising three children, he and Blanche alternated spending cold Wisconsin winters in Florida and Arizona. Eventually, the couple moved permanently to sunny Florida.
Once in Florida, Allen fulfilled his dream of being a college graduate—he was the University’s oldest graduate at the ceremony. But he did not stop there. He continued his desire to learn by auditing courses in law, political science, and history right up until his passing.
He is survived by Judy Luedtke, Michael Luedtke, and Jane (Jesus) Hernandez. He was the beloved grandpa of six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family expresses their gratitude to Harley Schlichting for his friendship and kindness to our father and grandfather.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, April 26 12:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Blount and Curry funeral home in Temple Terrace.
