Bhowan Kana, age 99, passed away on August 13, 2026. Born on November 4, 1926, in South Africa, he later resided in Tampa, Florida, and lived a long life marked by steady devotion to family, faith, and service to others.
Throughout his working life, Mr. Kana approached each chapter with quiet purpose and diligence. He was a farmer in Zambia, where he cultivated maize, tobacco, and oranges—work that reflected patience, discipline, and a deep respect for the land. In time, he brought that same practical wisdom and perseverance to Florida, where he owned a motel and convenience store in St. Petersburg.
Mr. Kana’s days were shaped not only by work, but by meaningful routines and enduring interests. He enjoyed playing cricket and found simple satisfaction in gardening and growing vegetables. He also practiced yoga every morning, maintaining remarkable dedication—still doing headstands at 88 years old. A man of Hindu faith, he was very involved with his Temple in India, grounding his life in spiritual commitment and reverence.
Above all, family was very important to him, and he carried himself with humility and steadiness. He also held community service as a true responsibility, offering his time and care in ways that reflected a sincere respect for others and the world around him. His legacy is one of quiet strength, faithful living, and an enduring example of what it means to live with purpose.
He is survived by his daughter, Chandan Patel; his sons, Dilipkumar Patel and Kirit Kana; his grandchildren, Neel Patel, Heena Patel, Ravi Patel, and Rita Kana; and his great-grandchild, Anaiya Patel.
A Funeral Service will be held at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel, 12690 N 56th Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617, on August 20, 2026, at 10:00 am followed by Visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
